Transparent Terrain
The Transparent Terrain Mode allows to make subsurface information visible by making the terrain texture (orthophoto, WM(T)S etc.) transparent. The user defines the intensity and spatial characteristics of the transparency.
The tool provides three different modes that can be selected via the drop-down menu in the toolbar:
-
- Enables a predefined 3D box for local inspection of the ground, with side boundaries and base plate. Only objects inside the box are visible.
-
- Enables a flat rectangular transparency of the terrain and a locally limited view below the terrain.
-
- Enables a global transparency of the globe and therefore an area-wide view below the terrain.
Clicking on the icon activates the tool and opens the associated settings window.

Display texture |
Display a box texture, the option is enabled by default. If enabled, a texture is displayed in the box, if disabled, the inside of the box appears in black. |
Drops the object in "My workspace". |

New |
Restarts the tool and prompts the user to enter a new position. |
Transparent Rectangle
UI / Setting | Description |
---|---|
Displays or hides the drawn rectangle. |
|
Allows to edit the vertices of the drawn rectangle. |
|
Allows to move the drawn rectangle along the X-, Y-axis. |
|
Allows zooming to the extent of the drawn rectangle. |
|
Min |
Specifies the min point of the rectangle in WGS84 coordinates (EPSG:4326). |
Max |
Specify the max point of the rectangle in WGS84 coordinates (EPSG:4326). |
Move camera under terrain |
If activated (default), allows the user to move the camera below the terrain. If not activated, the camera movement is stopped at the height of the terrain. |
Opacity |
Sets the terrain opacity in percent, with the value 0 = no opacity (completely transparent) and 100 = full opacity (non-transparent). |
Near/Far Scalar |
Activates or deactivates (default) close/far scaling. Opacity is scaled depending on distance. Linear interpolation takes place between the set near/far values.
