Extended Metadata

The VC Planner supports the extension of the basic metadata with your own customer-specific metadata. The basic metadata of a planning project are:

  1. Name

  2. Description

  3. Created by

  4. Created at

  5. Updated by

  6. Updated at

The extended metadata offers the option of additional metadata for:

  • the planning project - the planning itself

  • the planning object - the individual layers (vector layer, raster layer, etc.)

  • the planning feature - the drawn or imported feature itself

can be specified.

General Information

Metadata or meta information is structured data that contains information about the characteristics or content of other data. The structure of the data is determined by the underlying metadata schema defined in the VC Publisher or VC App Configurator. This metadata schema can be customized. The metadata schema is made up of key / title & value type / value. The key is the name of the metadata and the value type is the data type that the value associated with the key represents. Example:

Key
(specified by scheme)

Title
(specified by schema)

value
(specified by user)

value type
(specified by schema)

author

Project author

Max Mustermann

String (text)

plan_valid

planning legally valid

true

Boolean (true/false)

plan_valid_since

Fixed date

01.01.2021

Date (dd/mm/yyyy)

The number of metadata is unlimited and only depends on the underlying metadata schema. The following value types are available:

  • String (text)

  • Number (whole number)

  • Date (dd/mm/yyyy)

  • DateTime (DD/MM/YYYY HH:MM)

  • Boolean (true/false)

A metadata schema can be created for:

  • the planning project - i.e. the planning itself

  • the planning object - the individual layers (vector layer, raster layer, etc.)

  • the planning feature - the drawn or imported feature itself

exist.

Showing extended metadata

The respective metadata records are displayed in various places in the VC Planner - always in the respective area for which a schema has been specified.

In all cases where metadata is displayed, additional metadata can be displayed by clicking on the "More" button, if available.

Set / edit extended metadata

Setting / editing metadata requires the corresponding authorization on the planning project. Either regulated via the role in the Planner backend, or via a corresponding authorization granted by the owner of the planning project.

Planning project - Set / edit metadata

Within the planning administration, when a planning is selected, the icon pencil in the editing area of the selected planning offers the possibility to edit the metadata of the corresponding planning project. Clicking on icon pencil opens another window and displays the extended metadata of the planning project in addition to the basic metadata. See the image below. Clicking on More opens another window and displays all the extended metadata for the planning project. .Metadata editor for a planning project image::image_vcPlannerProjectMetadataEdit.PNG[align=left, width=100%]
